Intro
Apostolic Lighthouse
of Sand Mountain
Apostolic Lighthouse Church is a Bible-centered congregation, grounding our beliefs and practices in explicit Biblical passages and principles. Inspired by Scripture, we adhere to the following foundational doctrines:
Salvation
We believe in the Biblical standard of full salvation, which encompasses repentance, water baptism by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
Scripture
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the ultimate authority for salvation and Christian living. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
God
There is one God who has revealed Himself as our Father, through His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in human form, both fully God and fully man. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16)
Sin and Salvation
All people have sinned and require salvation. Salvation is a gift of God's grace received through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)
The Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17) by repenting (turning away from sin), being baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ (symbolic of burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (symbolic of resurrection). (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4)
Christian Life
As Christians, we are called to love God and others. We should strive to live a holy life both inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are available for the Church today. (Mark 12:28-31; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
The Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to gather His church. Ultimately, there will be the final resurrection and judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, while the unrighteous will face eternal death. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15)
Doctrine represents the teaching of God's Word. In our time, many people seek preachers who simply make them feel good rather than those who proclaim sound doctrine. (2 Timothy 4:3) Nevertheless, we must love, cherish, and obey the Word of God. Merely knowing and accepting the truth is not enough.
